Happy Closet Remix Challenge day 8!

So it looks like I won't have my computer for the next week or two, so please excuse any late posts / poorly editted ones. I'm doing what I can with what I have. I will be posting, though, so I hope you enjoy it! I can guarantee this will probably be my last #CRC post for this challenge... it was fun while I did it!

Happy Closet Remix Challenge day 7!

Okay, listen, I kind of cheated on today's challenge outfit. It's 20 degrees here and I have absolutely nothing that is equipped for those kinds of temperatures! So, naturally, I raided my mom's closet. Good thing she had this baby. Warm, functional, stylish... it's the whole package. Thanks mom! Also, don't tell the closet remix challenge police. I promise I won't do it ever again for the rest of the 30 days.

On the other hand, you know how it was 60 degrees yesterday? Yeah, well, it snowed today. Isn't nature awesome? Just as you're about to enjoy the warm weather, snow just dumps on your head. Cool. Awesome. Thanks Mother Nature. I'm running out of snow clothes, though, do you mind warming it up? Much appreciated xo

Happy Closet Remix Challenge day 6!

It was 60+ degrees here. Can you imagine?! Just the other day it was snowing! It's amazing how great warm weather is. Nature is straight up weird.

I had to visit some office buildings after school today, so I wanted to wear something cute.. something that screamed that I could totally rock it in a cubicle. Not that I'd want to. But I totally could.

I've been trying even harder to incorporate the stuff at the back of my closet so that I don't have to throw it away, but I'm definitely failing. All of these pieces are things I wear at least once a month. So there's that. But at least it's still cute.

Do you often incorporate clothes you've been hoarding, or do you just let them chill in the back of your closet?

Happy Closet Remix Challenge day 3!

Okay, I'm in love with this hat. Sorry. I am finding any excuse I can to wear it. My head's cold? Wearing it. It matches my outfit at all? Wearing it. I'm bored? Wearing it.

I've been so busy lately, so the fact that I go to show you three outfits in a row is just A+ behavior for me! I'm sorry I've been repeating clothes (I know, I know, the closet remix challenge is about using different things), but it's been limited selection wardrobe wise because I'm not used to it being so cold where I live. I'm starting to warm up to it, though, so hopefully I'll start wearing more diverse things that are really my style; otherwise, it looks like I'm stuck in sweaters, bean boots, and, obviously, my JCrew cap.

What's your go-to outfit when it's freezing cold?

Happy Closet Remix Challenge day 2!

We got school off again, but it didn't snow. The good news is all the snow from yesterday stuck around! I went shopping with my mom today, but the CRC made it hard to walk through the racks and pick things out... I knew I had to stay away from shopping. That doesn't mean I didn't pick up some new makeup, though.

Do you ever have trouble resisting the urge to shop? Ugh, isn't it the worst?

Happy Closet Remix Challenge day 1!

It snowed here today. I'm in shock. We never, ever get snow here where I live... it's always just rain or sunshine. This was a lovely treat! I adore snow, honestly, and being able to roll around in it with my animals made a good day great. And not having school made it even better.

I actually didn't leave my house at all except to take these pictures / play in the snow with my pets and brother; mostly, I've been sitting by the fire, enjoying hot chocolate, and watching the news. It's been heavenly. I don't want to go back to school tomorrow, or ever, and I want it to keep snowing for that long too.

Did you get snow from this giant cold vortex that hit the states? How'd you spend your snow day?

Are you excited for something new on Lichtenstyle? The first change is that the majority of posts are going to be outfit posts, and I'm going to try very, very hard to keep to that promise. Doing this, however, is not as easy as it seems, as I, a high school junior, tend to focus more on how much sleep I'll be getting nightly than what I'll be wearing the next day. Sure, it's important, but sometimes it's second priority.

I also have an intense online shopping addiction. Like, if your shopping-savviest friend told you they had a problem, multiply that by 5. That's me and online shopping. If I could marry my computer or my credit card, I would.

But that's where the 30 day closet remix challenge (CRC) comes in, and, boy, am I excited. If you've never heard of it before, it's essentially where you're not allowed to shop for 30 days (boo!) and you have to make 30 outfits out of whatever clothing you have in your closet. Easy enough, right? But then on top of that, I'm adding two more rules: I can't repeat outfits, and whatever's left unworn at the end of the 30 days is getting tossed out. Just like that. I dig this idea a lot, because I'm running out of hangers anyway, and I'll be killing two birds with one stone. Score.

So check back starting tomorrow to watch me embark on this 30 day madness adventure. See you then!

Have you ever done this challenge? Would you ever do this challenge?

bundle up

With temperatures in the low twenties, teens, and even below zero sweeping the nation, it's important to wear super warm clothing in order to keep at a normal temperature and stay safe. But who's to say you can't do it in style? The first look I paired is very simple, but with a lot of elements that make it exciting. While the sweater is a neutral, the necklace piece adds a bit of sparkle. The leather finish of the pants do the same to boring black pants. The chambray shirt beneath the sweater and low black boots make the outfit polished. Finally, the military green jacket (that is so in right now!) has a furry hood for extra warmth and comfort. While this outfit is a bit dark, I kind of adore it. A simple black sweater dress or tunic with a nice, dark colored plaid layered beneath it keeps your torso warm. With a pair of fleece lined leggings (they're real, and beautiful) your body will be cozy all day. A nice set of pearls will add the bit of sparkle to make the outfit shine, and some high boots, heeled or not, ensure maximum foot warmth. The last look is absolutely my favorite. If you haven't noticed a trend yet, I tend to favor neutrals during the winter months. When putting this one together, I wanted it to consist of pieces I could grab with twenty minutes to go and still be cute and warm. Start with a nice pair of dark jeans and a neutral sweater, top with a nice, flow-y cardigan-y sweater, and add a nice dark scarf for a pop of winter color. Finally, a pair of short brown boots with some sparkly hardware makes the outfit beyond average.

With the chilling temperatures, being warm and safe is of utmost importance. Being stylish, though? Always an option.

How do you like to bundle up in style in the cold winter months?

Dear Old Navy, would you like to sponsor some of my posts? Literally almost everything I wear is by you. I'm a bit embarassed to be posting this outfit for the sheer fact that you're not advertising through my clothing, and that I just don't shop anywhere else. Thanks for the cool clothes, though. Keep up the good work.

Oh a separate note, doesn't the end of the holidays stink? Like, I-can-barely-get-out-of-bed-in-the-morning-and-still-have-an-intense-craving-for-candy-canes kind of stink. Here we are though, and its time to get up for school or work and people will give you sideways stares for eating candy canes. Ugh, people.

Are you ready for the holidays to be over or do you want them back?
