Fashion Uniform

2 4 3 1 5

Hello beauties! College has been getting the absolute most of me. If I'm now working or at a club, I'm in class. It's draining! But it's also oh, so worth it. Amongst all the academic chaos, however, I've found my way to a cozy and cool fashion uniform. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm not talking grey sweatsuit uniform. I'd rather wear culottes than get caught in that (aka, I would never). Basically, my fashion uniform became an interesting patterned piece with a bright colored piece topped (or... footed) with a nice pair of heeled booties. The above outfit is one of my favorites to wear when it's warmer out, and I got to break it out in the 60º weather of the Boston weekend. I love this combination! There's nothing that makes me happier than birds, bright red, and a sunny day.

What's your go-to fashion "uniform?"

Lucky Number 7

5 6 1 3 4

I've been back at school for over a month now since coming back from winter break, and I already miss it. I took this photoshoot right before I left and right after I found this lucky number 7 sweater in my mom's closet (it's mine now). This has got to be my favorite sweater now, though, and it totally reminds me of home. The funny thing is, number 7 really is my lucky number, so the fact that I dug it out of my mom's sweaters and really feel connected to it is so funny! Every time I peep it in my closet. I just think of being back at home with my family with the freedom to dress for warmer weather -- Boston definitely does not give you warm weather on a usual basis. This lucky number 7 sweater is probably my favorite thing in my outfit right now.

Do you have a lucky number or something in your closet that reminds you of home?

Winter Hats: Stay A Head of the Trend

Winter Hats
{ x }

With the rise of winter hats, gone are the days where you could quietly exclaim "I'm not a hat person!" and have people take that as a totally acceptable excuse. Why? Because now that hats are back at the forefront of fashion (fyi: they never really left), everyone looks good when wearing one. From berets to wide brims, there's a myriad of winter hats that have been showing up everywhere from on the runway to Brooklyn Blonde. For a college student on a budget, it's been really hard for me to follow this trend when the most basic hats are upwards of $20-$50 (what?!), but I've scoped out the best, cheap hats for your head this season. No need to thank me, just wear your winter hats proudly. That's thanks enough.

WW // Winter Must-Haves

WW2

I have been following the winter fashion scene for a while, and I mean a while, while. Considering I love everything about the winter season, I look forward to winter must-haves all year. Layers and scarves and booties, oh my! There's nothing I don't like about the style of the season. Another thing that makes me ecstatic about winter must-haves? They always tend to take some sort of theme. Last year was definitely about patterns, but this year is alllllllll classics. I'm talking classic colors, pieces, and cuts. Want to see my winter must-haves for the season? Read on!

Happy Closet Remix Challenge day 6!

It was 60+ degrees here. Can you imagine?! Just the other day it was snowing! It's amazing how great warm weather is. Nature is straight up weird.

I had to visit some office buildings after school today, so I wanted to wear something cute.. something that screamed that I could totally rock it in a cubicle. Not that I'd want to. But I totally could.

I've been trying even harder to incorporate the stuff at the back of my closet so that I don't have to throw it away, but I'm definitely failing. All of these pieces are things I wear at least once a month. So there's that. But at least it's still cute.

Do you often incorporate clothes you've been hoarding, or do you just let them chill in the back of your closet?

Happy Closet Remix Challenge day 3!

Okay, I'm in love with this hat. Sorry. I am finding any excuse I can to wear it. My head's cold? Wearing it. It matches my outfit at all? Wearing it. I'm bored? Wearing it.

I've been so busy lately, so the fact that I go to show you three outfits in a row is just A+ behavior for me! I'm sorry I've been repeating clothes (I know, I know, the closet remix challenge is about using different things), but it's been limited selection wardrobe wise because I'm not used to it being so cold where I live. I'm starting to warm up to it, though, so hopefully I'll start wearing more diverse things that are really my style; otherwise, it looks like I'm stuck in sweaters, bean boots, and, obviously, my JCrew cap.

What's your go-to outfit when it's freezing cold?

With temperatures in the low twenties, teens, and even below zero sweeping the nation, it's important to wear super warm clothing in order to keep at a normal temperature and stay safe. But who's to say you can't do it in style? The first look I paired is very simple, but with a lot of elements that make it exciting. While the sweater is a neutral, the necklace piece adds a bit of sparkle. The leather finish of the pants do the same to boring black pants. The chambray shirt beneath the sweater and low black boots make the outfit polished. Finally, the military green jacket (that is so in right now!) has a furry hood for extra warmth and comfort. While this outfit is a bit dark, I kind of adore it. A simple black sweater dress or tunic with a nice, dark colored plaid layered beneath it keeps your torso warm. With a pair of fleece lined leggings (they're real, and beautiful) your body will be cozy all day. A nice set of pearls will add the bit of sparkle to make the outfit shine, and some high boots, heeled or not, ensure maximum foot warmth. The last look is absolutely my favorite. If you haven't noticed a trend yet, I tend to favor neutrals during the winter months. When putting this one together, I wanted it to consist of pieces I could grab with twenty minutes to go and still be cute and warm. Start with a nice pair of dark jeans and a neutral sweater, top with a nice, flow-y cardigan-y sweater, and add a nice dark scarf for a pop of winter color. Finally, a pair of short brown boots with some sparkly hardware makes the outfit beyond average.

With the chilling temperatures, being warm and safe is of utmost importance. Being stylish, though? Always an option.

How do you like to bundle up in style in the cold winter months?
